Bukovel

Bukovel ski resort is a new large ski resort in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast 30 km to the west of Yaremcha.Bukovel has major plans for expansion; supposedly by the 2008-2009 season it plans to have 278 km of runs and 35 (!) lifts, which would make it one of the 20 largest ski resorts in the world. Currently, before the start of the 2006/2007 season, there are 14 lifts and 50 km of runs. Bukovels base elevation is nearly 900 m above sea level, and the highest ski lift rises to 1370 m.

Crimea - Angarskyy Pass (Chatyr-Dag)

Angarskyy Pass (Chatyr-Dag) - 3 tows 300 - 650 m in length, 700 - 800 m elevation; accessible by bus from Simferopol or Yalta.

Dragobrat

Drahobrat is located 18 km away from Yasenya, 120 km from Ivano-Frankivsk. Drahobrat (commonly spelled "Dragobrat") is Ukraines highest ski resort, with a base elevation at 1300 m. Drahobrat is the first ski resort to open its lifts and the last to turn them off — usually around May 1st. At Drahobrat you can enjoy up to 350 m of elevation drop. Five or six tow lifts from 350 to 1000 m in length reach up the mountainside as far as the summit of Stig mountain at 1703 m. The skiing is as wild as it gets in Ukraine.

Izki (Magura)

Izki is ski area 18 km to the south of the Volovets train station, which is on the Kiev-Uzhhorod train line. There is a chair (950 n) and tow (950 n) lifts.

Krasia

Krasiya is one of Ukraine"s least known ski resorts, but actually is among the most developed. The mountain that the ski runs are on rises to 1036 m and faces the northeast - which makes for good snow quality. There are six lifts - one chair lift and five tow lifts - and runs of up to 2500 m, which is quite long for Ukrainian resorts. Supposedly there is a half-pipe for snowboarders. Menchil (Varshava, Grabovets, Hrabovets)

Menchil mt. located near Slavske, Grabovets and Pshonets, Skole district, Lviv region. Number of lifts - 2, Varshava (1175 m) and Grabovets (850 m).

Mizhgirya

Mizhgirya is located about 35 km to the southeast of Volovets, which has a train station on the Kiev-Uzhhorod line. The mountain is called Makovytsia and rises to over 750 m, which is 300 m above the valley floor. There is a chair lift to the top of the mountain and several different routes down that are up to 2300 m in length.

Myhovo (Mygovo)

"Mountain-ski and tourist complex «Myhove» is located in the Village Myhove, region of Chernivtsi, at altitude of 740 m over the sea level, in the heart of Prykarpattya. 1st route length of 1100 m, width of 50 m; 2nd route length of 1240 m width of 45 m. The difference of altitudes of 250 m. The flat route for beginners and children + the multielevator of 200 m and the ski school."

Oryavchyk (Oryavchik)

Oryavchyk is located 28 km from Skole (Lviv oblast), which is on the Kiev-Uzhhorod train route. It is just 4 km from Tysovets. The slope has a base elevation of 850 m above sea level and a maximum elevation of over 1050 m. There is a tow lift all the way up the mountain and several runs down. Skiing is intermediate, with a gradual slope at the bottom that is perfect for beginners.

Plai

Play located near road Kyiv - Chop 6.5 km from Tysovets turn. Low station 792 m, high station 1060 m, lift length 1000 m.

Podobovets

Podobovets is located 11 km to the south of the Volovets. The single tow lift up the mountain is 1000 m long, with a 230 m elevation rise up to about 1050 m.

Pogar (Pohar)

Mt. Pohar rises to nearly 1000 m and has two tow lifts of 700 m and 800 m in length. Runs are for intermediate skiers and advanced beginners.

Politeh (Politekh)

Politekh" mountain (formally called Mt. Kremin) is perfect for beginners. The mountain is a 20 minute walk from the Slavsko train station. There is a very gradual hill for starting skiers and three tow lifts (see map of ski runs at bottom right of this page in Russian) or a more accurate topographical view of the mountain, which rises to 759 m.

Pylypets (Gymba, Hymba, Borzhava)

Pylypets is an up-and-coming ski area 12 km to the south of the Volovets train station, which is on the Kiev-Uzhhorod train line. The ski lifts (tows, actually) are new, and there has been a lot of construction there recently. For example, some cottages have been built near the top of the new ski run, which rises to nearly 1200 m above sea level from a base of 800 m.

Synyak

The resort is situated at the foothills of the Volcanic ridge of the Carpathians in the vicinity of Synyak mountain in the funnel-shaped hollow at a height of 450 m in the picturesque valley of Synyavka. The main curative means of the resort is low-mineralized hydrocarbonate-sulphide natrium-calcium low-alkali water. Synyak has an 1000 m and 450 m long tow lifts.

Trostian

Slavsko ski resort (sometimes called Slavske) is located 120 km from Lviv on the Kyiv-Uzhhorod railroad. There are four different mountains with ski runs. The most famous, Mt. Trostian, at 1232 m above sea level with nearly 500 m of vertical drop, has the greatest variety of slopes in one place of any mountain in Ukraine, including a variety of challenging runs for experienced skiers.

Tysovets

Tysovets is located 32 km from Skole (Lviv oblast), which is on the Kiev-Uzhhorod train route. The ski resort has a base elevation of 900 m above sea level and a maximum elevation of about 1100 m.

Verkhniy Studenyy (Beskyd)

Beskyd ski area is located at the village of Verkhniy Studenyy off the Kiev-Uzhhorod train line. However, access is a bit difficult because the trains no longer stop at Beskyd station. An easier way, perhaps, is to take a taxi to Verkhniy Studenyy village from Volovets. The elevation is about 850 m above sea level, and snow cover is reliable. Beskyd has an 800 m long tow lift and a nice wide mountain that you can get down several different ways. There is now a second lift around the corner that has a shorter but fairly steep run. In general, Beskyd is for lower-intermediate and intermediate skiers.

Vorohta

Vorohta - a small town of about 5000, located in the midst of the Carpathian Mountains (Karpaty) - a short ride to Mt. Hoverla, Ukraine’s highest peak. Vorohta attracts tourists year round and is popular for its winter sports and summer sights, as well as, the region’s Hutsul culture. Vorohta has tow lift 400 m in length.

Yablunytsya

Yablunytsia is a village at 960 m elevation on the highest point of the road from Ivano-Frankivsk to Uzhhorod. It is accessible by car or minibus from Ivano-Frankivsk train station or by narrow-gauge diesel train from the same train station. The resort is located between the highest mountain ranges of the Carpathians, but there is only about a 150 m elevation drop on the slopes. Runs are for beginners and intermediate skiers.

Yaremche

The city of Yaremche is located in the Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, which is known for its rich culture and tradition. There are ski lifts available for those attempting to ski down mountains standing between 700 and 1150 meters high. Best ski resorts in Ukraine - Bukovel in 30 km from Yaremche.

Yasinya

Yasinya is a large mountain community in a wide, picturesque valley on the road from Ivano-Frankivsk to Rakhiv in the heart of the highest ranges of the Carpathians. Yasinya is a popular tourist destination at all seasons of the year and is hardly commercialized. Nearby is Mt. Hoverla (2061 m), the highest mountain in Ukraine, and popular Drahobrat ski resort. In addition, Yasinya itself has two tow lifts of its own of 800 m and 400 m in length. They are situated in different locations and are best suited for beginning and lower intermediate skiers.

Zatyshok

Zatyshok is a hotel on the southern outskirts of Podobovets it is 13 km down the road from Volovets towards Mizhhirya at an elevation of 850 m. The tow lift is 700 m long with an elevation drop of 150 m.

Zhar Berkut (Volosynka, Vysokyy Verh)

Volosyanka village located 5 km from Slavske village that belongs to Skole district, 7 km from Slavske station. There are several lifts on the territory of rest complex Zahar Berkut. Among them is the longest in this area pare-seat lift with the length of 2800 m and three ski lifts with the length of 700, 750 and 800 m. On the mountain there are several stations, as the Upper Station of pare-seat lift.

Zhdenievo

Zhdenievo, Volovets district, Transcarpathian, 542 m above sea level. Zhdenievo has an 800 m long tow lift, vertical rise 150 m.
