The scenic Chamonix Valley is nestled among some of the highest mountain peaks in the Alps, including the famous Mont Blanc massif (4,810 meters/15,632 feet). There are 145 trails weaving throughout the area adding up to 140 kilometers (87.5 miles). The favorite runs in the area are Le Brevent, Vall?e-Blanche, and the Grands Montets. Chamonix is known for its fantastic off-trail skiing and snowboarding opportunities, as well. Including the off-trail slopes, the area offers up to 30,000 acres of skiable terrain. "Courchevel is the eastern part of the Three Valleys and the resort is divided into four separate parts by altitude. The highest being 1850m, next 1650m, then1550m and the lowest at 1300m which is at Le Praz an old farming village. The resort is a slice of life with the rich lying at the top of the heap as Courchevel 1850 has the top hotels and swanky restaurants and shopping, and that gradually reduces from there. "Le Grand Bornand is a small resort in the Aravis Pass Area that has been kept in the traditional style. The skiing is well suited for beginners and those who have skied before, but might not hold much for the experienced. There is a good snowpark and several halfpipes. You can board on all the pistes. 56km of cross country and snowshoeing, telemark and skidoos are available. Nearest town: La Clusaz, resort altitude : 950m, number of lifts: 39, highest lift : 2600m, lowest lift : 950m, number of slopes: 48, beginner slopes: 68%, intermediate slopes: 26% expert slopes: 6%.
