Mount Hotham has always been known as a "serious skier" mountain, this was in part due to the roads into Hotham and in part due to the nature of the runs at Hotham. Nearest town Harrietville 34km. Highest elevation 1850m, base elevation 1450m, downhill skiable area 245ha, downhill longest run 2.5km.

Perisher is about 500 km and 5.5 to 6 hours drive from Sydney, and about 2.5 hours drive from Canberra. From Sydney, the road as far as Canberra is dual carriageway, and after Canberra is a good road with frequent overtaking lanes. Winter Season June - October.
